The Blue Chair

This week's photo challenge theme is "chair."

I first put Ashton's plastic adirondack chair in the shrub bed in front of the house and took a picture of it.

Then I printed the picture in sepia onto fabric that was ironed to freezer paper. The blue chair was cut out and fused to the sepia printed fabric.
I also sent the backing fabric through the printer, layered the three layers and then quilted and bound it.

Emily is here again and we are working on a charity quilt for SLM Ministeries.

The inspiration for this quilt came from Lotta Charm by Film in the Fridge.

Weekly Photo Challenge

This week's challenge is "On the Floor."

I'll try and explain how I did it.
I first took last week's "Fun" quilt and put it on the floor and took a picture of it.

I enlarged the picture and printed it out in black and white and used it for my pattern.
From that pattern I cut out the small squares of "Fun" and fused them on to the corresponding fabric. I also drew lines on the background "floor" fabric with a pencil to mark where to sew the lines for the tile floor.

Here is the small "Fun" quilt fused together and ready to be ironed to the background "floor."

I sewed (quilted) the gray tile lines and then fused the "Fun" quilt in place. Then the quilting began in ernest with lots of pebbles.

Here are the two quilts, "On the Floor" and "Fun" on the floor!

And now, I need to start thinking about next weeks challenge, "Chair."

Family Times

When I realized that our whole family would be together for our normal routine of Saturday night pizza, and Paul's folks were here too, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a quick, spur of the moment picture taken. Gabriel was our photographer.

This is so "Gabriel." He loves to figure out how things work.

Now he is making adjustments. I forget what they were trying to prove, but ...

They determined the box was too small and the hole too big! Yes! ... it worked!

Guests: Paul's niece Amanda and husband Phil

It was great having Gina here for a few days. She and Dustin made lots of wedding plans.

How can a little telephone be so captivating?

Legos! Ashton loves it when you make a vehicle to add to his fleet.

Dustin & Gina model Paul's wedding suit and my wedding dress!

My, my! Time has changed us a lot.

Weekly Photo Challenge -- Fun

Fun. That is the challenge for this week. And this "Crosses" quilt was fun to make.

I have a box of old 1970ish blue fabric and some yellow orange scraps that I decided to put together.

After making my wonky cross blocks I trimmed them down to measure 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" ...

... and sewed them together.

My inspiration for this quilt came from Trudy Too.

And then later I found this turtorial by LollyQuiltz on making the wondy cross blocks that would have been even more fun.

This would make a quick and easy crib quilt.
