Houston Quilt Show and a Goal

Over the years I have admired the quilts of Caryl Bryer Fallert. She had an exhibit of 30 Quilts for 30 Years and a very interesting lecture which I enjoyed.

Each quilt measured 30”X30”

And here’s another quilt I like.

The quilt show was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Wouldn’t this picture make a neat ‘fresh modern quilt?’

I enjoyed a “Craftsy” demo by Victoria Finley Wolfe.

This kite quilt would make a wonderful throw or crib quilt for a child.

to have a small 7”X10” quilt finished by the end of November for SAQA.

Quilt Festival–Houston, TX

The exhibit of quilts made by Libby Lehman is spectacular and very special.

I was so pleased that Libby’s son Les and sister Ellen let me pose with them in front of one of Libby’s quilts. 

Here is my sister Emily admiring another one of Libby’s quilts.

I really enjoyed visiting with the maker of this quilt.

This kaleidoscope by Paula Nadelstern caught my attention.

This quilt was inspired from a sketch this lady doodled and colored with her grandson.

The Best of Show is “Chihuly”s Gondola” by Melissa Sobotka.

 This smaller quilt called “Wind” by Masanobu Miyama is exceptionally well done.

Bloggers’ Quilt Festival : Spring 2012

Thanks to Amy's Creative Side for hosting another fine Quilt Festival.



Laura's Quilt -- This quilt started out as a Tossed Nine Patch but became so busy you couldn't see the design. So, I found another idea from Film in the Fridge's Timber Quilt to use my 'already cut squares.' I sewed two red squares together to make the rectangle and then cut the chartreuse fabric squares into thirds for the narrow strips.

Since the quilt was wider than 44" I added a wide improv strip of the leftover scraps to the back to make it wide enough for the top.



The label was sewn into the back on top of the pieced strip.

I'm sure going to miss Laura. She's leaving today but plans to come back and visit, often, I hope!
