Life Over the Holidays

I'm lagging behind on the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, #OnRingoLake which isn't unusual for me at this stage of the game.

I've even entertained the idea of adding a little zip and zing with the addition of lime green placed sporatically throughout the quilt. What do you think?

The small group around our table for Christmas lunch included Paul's sister Jeanie & Galen, his folks, and Amy & Ashton.

Sunset at our house from the other side of the pond.

Paul worked on Ashton's hover board ...

... and got it going again.

If only that 300 lb. sow wouldn't have barged her way through between Paul and the gate.

Sunrise, On Ringo Lake, Boys, Sunset

Sunrise in the East

This just can't be right for Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt #OnRingoLake; but it's fun to play with a layout.

After playing for a while at our house, I took Rusty & Teryn to the field to ride in the tractor with their dad.

Let's make plastic! Cornstarch, water, glycerin, and vinegar. The boys found this DIY on youtube.

Life and En Provence

Life ...
Is that chocolate milk with hotdogs for lunch?

... as a Quilter
I've made a few changes along the way with my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, "En Provence" .

En Provence Mystery Quilt - Week 1

It's that time of year again when Bonnie Hunter shares a mystery quilt with her readers. This year the name is "En Provence" and is inspired by her recent trip to France. She is giving us one clue per week until the grand reveal which usually lasts from 6-8 weeks.

These are the fabrics I have pulled for my quilt.

I decided to go with one constant fabric for my neutrals instead of going scrappy. I only have about 1/2 yard left after cutting the required squares. I hope that will be enough.

Last year two of my sisters, Emily and Polly, and my niece Jolene all joined in the fun of making Allietare. We are all doing it again and hoping another sister and friend will join us.

The sunset this evening was so beautiful. As it got darker it also got more red.

Thanksgiving Day Activities

We invited in quite a few folks for our Thanksgiving Day lunch. Some of our guests were:

Paul's folks

Silvan & Kimberly from Virginia

Russ & Loretta and family

Amy & Ashton

Craig, Angie, Tina, & Josiah

It was warm enough for outdoor games so Ashton, Kirby, and Stacy made roads and hauled mulch.

Back inside, Georgi looks at the pictures and makes up her stories and "reads" out loud to Tina and Talya.

The young and young at heart nibbled on the gingerbread house.

I took these four silly grands on a 4-wheeler ride to take sunset pictures.

And then Craig decided it's time to make taffy.

What does it matter if the kitchen floor gets sticky? Pulling it is part of the fun

Magnolia's Annual Guest Day Sewing

Each year in November our Magnolia Mennonite Sewing Circle has a special Guest Day Sewing.

I'm guessing we had a record breaker this year with around 70 adults and 50 children in attendance.
 Some tied quilts while ...
... others wrapped Christmas Bundles for the Olive Branch Mission in Cherry Creek, SD.
Most of the children played outside but a few found their way to the coloring table.
This top was started at last years Guest Day Sewing and now it's being tied.

The ladies at this table made young girls dresses for Shining Light Children's Home in Mexico.
The sun was setting when I arrived home.

Sunset and Another “Fiesta Fireworks”

Life …

We had another pretty sunset the other day.

And then I saw the reflection in the sewing room window.

I ran the Acadia through the car wash.

… as a Quilter

I’m starting another “Fiesta Fireworks” quilt. This time it will be small, only 12” X 12.”
