Starlit Sunflower

If you thought about Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" when you saw this piece, then you thought right!

For inspiration, I used "Starry Night" and ...

... "Six Sunflowers" to create my piece ...

... for the Cherrywood Van Gogh challenge.

I used Cherrywood Hand Dyed Fabrics with my unique "Patches" technique to create the "Starry Night" background and the dahlia sunflower and it measures 20"X20".

This art quilt inspired by Van Gogh's paintings depicts the story of Job in the Bible. In Job 12:22, Job defends God to his friends and observes, "He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings utter darkness into the light." Even in his darkest hours of pain, loss, and suffering, Job trusted God to provide comfort and light.

This rainbow appeared over the neighbors barn after a cooling shower on a hot day.

It was a fun, noisy, jibberish evening when we hosted the Hope Youth Girls for pizza. Most of them are now between 30 and 35 years old.

These flowers are arranged in a 7 point star like the shape of the fort in Alba Iulia (White Julia).

These locks are on the drawbridge to the fort in Alba Iulia. Make a promise and throw away the key.

We enjoyed a self guided tour of the museum at the fort.

There were statues made to the goddess Diana and Jupiter.

Outside in the moat area we had a taste of Romanian (sausage) mici with bread and mustard.


Today was national holiday. We watched the changing of the guards.

I love the slower pace of life in the villages with time to visit neighbors and friends.

How do they know which wire goes to what?

We took a short drive out into the country through the next village.

Adi & Ariana hosted an open house for their new ministry "Hospice Eliana."

Paul and Adan helped get the center ready for the event.

Over 100 people, including doctors, nurses, mayor, priest, pastors, professors, family, and friends attended.

The spectacular array of food was all donated.

Life, Zinnias, a Wedding, and Ducks

I think these are baby wrens nestled down in the Bohemian Jew right outside our front door.

These zinnias are so pretty in Amy's back yard.

I hope you don't tire of seeing our ducks. I don't!

Life, Ashton's Art Quilt, and Daddy's Ties II

We have enjoyed our ducks quite a bit. They have gradually gotten used to the pond but are still afraid of people.

Kirby, Stacy, and Teryn drive motorcycles like acrobats.
